If you have a passion for colours and want to explore painting, you’ve come to the right place. This project is a favourite among seniors in my classroom, as they love working with vibrant colours. Some participants may need 2 or 3 sessions to finish the painting, but the end result is always worth the effort.
This project is suitable for all ages and skill levels, making it a fun and relaxing activity for everyone.
Materials needed:
- Canvas or paper (I’m using 6×12 inches canvas)
- Paintbrushes
- Acrylic paints in various colors (orange, yellow, pink, green, blue, brown, red, white, etc.)
- Water cup
- Paper towels
- Paper plate for the paint
- Black permanent marker
Create a beautiful and bright painting by following these steps:
1. Start by sketching the composition before you begin painting. Feel free to add more details or remove some as needed.
2. Choose a vibrant colour palette. Select bright and bold colours that will make your painting stand out and create a lively atmosphere.
3. Start painting the sky. Use a light blue colour and blend it with some white. Try using a variety of brush strokes to create interesting texture in your painting.
4. Apply a second coat of light blue paint to the sky if you feel it is too light. I decided to add some darker blue for a more dramatic effect. Please refer to the photo below.
5. Paint the hill, the flower and the sun. Try to use different shades of green for the flower’s stem and leaves to add visual interest. Please refer to the photo below.
6. Once the painting is dry, use a fine black marker to outline the shapes and add additional details if desired.
Try painting this project multiple times with different colour variations and techniques to make it your own masterpiece!
Keep smiling and painting!
